Easter Friends Card Ideas

Easter Friends Stamp Set - Card Ideas

I saw this technique of using "thirds" of paper to make a background and to stamp onto vellum to make a cute card!

Here's how it's done.

1.  Cut three pieces of different coloured cardstock, the same size.  For this card, I used 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.  As you will see later, you can use different shapes or dies to create the shapes.

2.  Cut 1/3 off of one of the pieces and cut 2/3 off the other piece.  Each of the different colours should be a different size.

3.  Layer the pieces of paper on top of eachother, gluing them together.

4.  Cut a piece of vellum that is smaller than the cardstock pieces.  I used 3 1/4 x 4 3/4.

5.  Stamp your image and sentiment onto the vellum.  YOU MUST USE STAZON INK, otherwise it will not dry and will smear.  Stazon ink is a permanent ink that sticks to most surfaces.

6.  To glue the stamped vellum piece to the cardstock layers, flip over your stamped image and along the back, put little dots of glue in the darker areas.  You don't want to use too much glue as it can show through the vellum.

7.  Glue the vellum to the middle of the three layers of cardstock.  There will be some pieces sticking up where it is not glued down.

8.  You can strategically place different items onto the vellum to help act as places to put glue.  Here, I used the flower from the strawberry punch.

9.  Lift up the vellum, and under the "flower" place a dot of liquid glue or a glue dot.  This will help the flappy edges to settle down.

10.  I added some matte dots in the upper right hand corner and placed small dots of glue behind them to help hold that corner down to the cardstock.  I also added a mat behind the cardstock of Very Vanilla.  It is measuring 3 7/8 x 5 1/8.

11.  Lastly, I added a bow with some Linen Thread and glued all the layers to the Fresh Freesia card base.  It measures 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, folded in half.

Here is a list of the products that I used to make this card.

Here are some other examples that I made.

For this card, I used the Stitched Rectangle dies to create the three pieces of cardstock and the vellum piece.  The colours I used were So Saffron, Fresh Freesia and Highland Heather.

For this card, I used the same colours as the last card, but cut my three pieces of cardstock and vellum from the Layering Circle dies.  I also used the Blending Brushes to add some Misty Moonlight to the cardbase layer.

For this final card example, I went outside the box and used Designer Series Paper as my layers instead of cardstock.  I like how it turned out.

Can you imagine all the colour combinations you could use with this technique?  How about reds and pinks for Valentine's Day or light pastel colours for a baby card?
