Wild Card Wednesday - Outdoor Barbecue Stamp Set (#151553)

On Saturday, I had people on Facebook, give me their school colours, using Stampin' Up! colours.  I Thanks for all of your participation!

Here is the random colour combo that was chosen from the challenge.

Colour Combo:
Thank You Karen D-I for your idea!

Technique...
I decided to use the "Starburst" technique on the cards today.  I tried to switch out the rays on each card with a different idea.  One I used plain cardstock, one I used Designer Series Paper (patterned paper) and alternated patterns.  One, I used vellum.

I will be honest, this colour combo matched with the starburst technique, along with this stamp set was a BIG challenge for me.  I hope you like what I came up with!

Have a look at the video!

Card 1:
On this card, I used just plain cardstock as the rays.  For the black portion, I embossed the circle with the Brick Embossing Folder and wiped the White Craft Ink over top to make some of the brick's texture stand out.  I added some hearts and that steak that is almost the shape of a heart, and voila!

Card 2:
On this card, I used the In Color Designer Series Paper for the rays, alternating sides to show different patterns.  I also only put the rays on 2/3 of the card, instead of all the way around in a circle, for something different.  The Ketchup bottles were white embossed onto the black cardstock circle.  The "Let's" came from the Itty Bitty Birthday stamp set.  I masked off "Celebrate You" and wrote in the word ketchup.

Card 3:
This is a sample that I had made earlier in the day.  I wanted the rays to look like smoke and so I used vellum.  If I did it again, I think I would tear the rays to make them look "less perfect".  To make the flames different colours, I used a dauber and added Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Cherry Cobbler to the stamp in random areas.  I like the effect!

Card 4:
This was also a sample card that I had made earlier in the morning.  I decided to use Designer Series Paper as the background, instead of cardstock.  I also spaced the "rays" much farther apart.  For this card, I decided not to add any bbq items, but just the sentiment "Well done".

It was tricky, but how did we do?

See something you like?
