Hey Birthday Chick Bundle - Example 2

For today's project, I decided to try something new and attempt to participate in the Global Design Project Challenge for this week.  This week's challenge was to "CASE" the designer, Connie Collins.

Since I am featuring the Hey Birthday Chick Bundle this week, I tried to come up with a way to follow the design idea and work with this fun bundle.

Here are two card ideas!

The general measurements of the layers are:

Card Base - 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, folded in half

First Layer - 3 7/8 x 5 1/8

Second Layer - 3 3/4 x 5

Top Layer - 3 1/2 x 4 3/4, embossed with the Stitched With Whimsy Die

For this card I used the FREE Sale-a-Bration paper, Berry Delightful.  I also used vellum as the top layer to mute some of the strawberry design.  The edges of the paper were "roughed up" by running the scissors blade along the edge of the paper.  I coloured the chicks using Poppy Parade, Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends.  The balloon was coloured and cut off from another chick stamped image.  The Happy Birthday sentiment was layered to showcase a "highlight" behind the words.  The pearls were coloured with the dark Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blend.

For the second card, I decided to switch up the colours and layers to see what this version would look like.  I added some Light Gray Granite Stampin' Blend marker to create some shadows on the stamped images.  I also coloured the pearls with the Basic Black Stampin' Blend.  On the top layer, I used the Blending Brush and Poppy Parade ink to darken the edges in hopes that the "stitching" would show up better.
